About PlainAstro
PlainAstro explains astrology in plain words. You get an accurate chart and an honest, readable explanation of what each part means, without mystical fog and without telling everyone the same flattering thing.
How the charts are calculated
Planet positions come from the open-source astronomy-engine library (geocentric, apparent, tropical zodiac). We checked them against Swiss Ephemeris on 300 random charts from 1905 to 2095: the planets, the Ascendant, the Midheaven and the Placidus house cusps all agree within about one arc-minute. Chiron comes from NASA/JPL Horizons data; the lunar nodes and Black Moon Lilith use their mean positions. Vedic tools use the sidereal zodiac with the Lahiri ayanamsa.
Birth places come from GeoNames (34,000 cities, CC BY 4.0), and the historical time-zone rules for each place, including old daylight-saving changes, come from the IANA time zone database.
Who writes the explanations
The explanations are written with the help of AI, to a strict house style: plain language, everyday examples, honest about the downsides. Paid readings are written the same way from your individual chart.
